告别Lake Louise,已是午后。由于早上起来晒干帐篷浪费了不少时间,一下使今天的行程变得紧张。下次再来的时候,我想我一定会留出足够的时间,去探访那个六冰川聚会的神秘山谷。把一些搜集的the Plain of the Six glaciers的资料也扔在这儿,以后要用的话就到这里来找吧。

The Plain of Six Glaciers Teahouse and Viewpoint
The "Plain of Six" is probably the most famous Lake Louise hike, and for good reason. No other trail gives you so much for a moderate effort. Starting at the Chateau Lake Louise, the path follows the lakeshore and continues to the back of the valley where the views just get better and better. Glaciers, vaulting peaks, avalanche paths and high mountain wildlife are all on the menu.
w Moderate full day hike
w 12-14 km (7.5-8.5 mi) return trip
w 365 m (1200 ft) elevation gain
w Note: this trail is busy and also used for horseback riding trips.

Trail Name:
Plain of the Six Glaciers
Summary:
Leave behind lush slopes and emerald waters for the desolate beauty of an imposing cirque of rock and ice.
Trail Description
From the front of the Chateau, the first 2 km follows the level (and therefore busy) path along the north shore of Lake Louise. After a very brief climb around the west end of the lake, the easy walking continues beside its glacial creek. 5 minutes later a steady climb begins on an intermittently rocky trail, with mountain peaks to each side and the magnificent Upper Victoria glacier ahead.
At 3.2 km, pass a steep connecting trail to Big Beehive. The steady climb continues through low fir and shrubs that allow near continuous views. At 4 km, pass another trail on the right - the Highline Trail from Lake Agnes - and keep straight ahead. The gradient momentarily eases as you cross a low, level rock ledge. Within a few minutes the climb to the teahouse resumes in earnest, up a talus hill of glacial debris. Behind to the north-east is the beautiful sight of turquoise Lake Louise and the Chateau, framed by conifer slopes and Fairview Mountain. Ahead to the south-west, Victoria glacier fills the skyline, with the imposing peaks and glaciers of Aberdeen, The Mitre and Lefroy to the south.
After a few switchbacks the trail straightens for a final 10-minute climb, to emerge onto a small, level meadow at 5.4 km. There are often many people here. The teahouse is set in the trees to the right of the trail, but you bear left and cross the small footbridge over a creek to continue up-valley for 1.6 km. This will take you to Abbot Pass Lookout, a dramatic close-up view of the six glaciers after which the trail is named: Aberdeen, Upper and Lower Lefroy, Upper and Lower Victoria, Popes.
Leaving the teahouse behind, the crowds thin considerably - of the many that climb this trail it seems (incredibly) that most do not walk the final section to the lookout. The gradient is level at first, turning to just a gradual climb, the side of the path brightened by delicate yellow columbine and white mountain avens. 15 minutes from the teahouse you set foot on glacial moraine, largely barren save for tiny, tenacious alpine flowers. Continue on the boot-beaten path along the low moraine ridge and up the talus slope for the best view of the glaciers.
Magnificent ice-clad Mount Victoria is directly ahead with Mount Lefroy to its left, and between them Abbot Pass. Rising to the Pass from the rubble-covered Lower Victoria glacier is a steep ice chute christened The Death Trap. The Pass itself, and the hut that sits atop it, is named after Philip Abbot, who died in 1896 while attempting to summit Mount Lefroy - the first recorded mountaineering fatality in North America.
High in this harsh, imposing glacial landscape, you are surrounded by the gray and brown of rock and the white of ice. Water plummets down the high limestone cliffs, and massive chunks of ice plunge from the glaciers with a mighty roar. Yet look in the opposite direction and there is an utterly contrasting view - the vivid turquoise of Lake Louise framed by lush green slopes.
Lake Agnes and the Glaciers
For a full day hike encompassing the lakes and glaciers, we recommend a counter-clockwise route - climbing first to Lake Agnes and the Beehives, then proceeding up-valley on the Highline Trail for the final climb to the Glaciers. This 11.25 miles/18 km circuit has a total ascent of around 2,500 ft/765 m.

Lake Louise
